FSW Community Group Play Provision for Children in Baglan, Port Talbot

FSW provides a community group play provision for children in the Baglan area of Port Talbot. The sessions are after school in the week and through the day on Saturdays. The sessions are with small groups of children who complete sessions either in our Baglan base or in the community.

The children we support have complex needs and disabilities, some can display difficult behaviours and some can have meltdowns.

Role Summary:

• Play worker involving community activities including Go Air, Buzz, Cinema, Swimming, Walks, Macdonalds etc.
• Emphasis is on having fun while the parent is away from the home.
• Working with the child's family and professionals to allow the parents respite.
• Reliability is essential to support continuity and consistency for child and family.
• Some personal care may be involved.
• Candidate must be willing to undergo relevant DBS check and ongoing training. Experience of working with children desirable but not essential.
• The candidate will be supported to establish a positive working relationship with both family and child/ren to build continuity and familiarity for the family.
