The Role
Nidderdale is a Short Breaks Children's Home, which is registered and inspected by Ofsted. We offer Short Breaks for children and young people, a Holiday Club, and an Outreach service based in Skipton.
The role of Children’s Residential Short Breaks Worker is invaluable, rewarding and exciting. At times the complexity of the young people can be challenging but to support you, there is a comprehensive training programme which covers all areas, such as clinical skills (such as medication, gastrostomy care and epilepsy management), Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and moving and handing people.

As this is a home environment you will carry out as part of your role, personal care, keyworking and housekeeping.
About You
We’re looking for passionate, enthusiastic and highly skilled professionals who:
- Are child-focused with a positive approach.
- Have an understanding of safeguarding practice in a registered childcare setting, especially with those who may not use words to communicate.
- Are willing to complete a Level 4 apprenticeship as part of the role.

It is an exciting time in Children and Young People’s Services in North Yorkshire as we plan our approach in respect of the Families First Partnership Programme and how we will be responding to the social care reforms. Work is underway to plan our approach and implementations for 2027. As a result of this, some realignment may happen with job roles in the future, we want to be transparent about this in respect of this role.
