Children’s Services Worker

Salary: £25,949 Per annum pro rata

Location: we have vacancies in Northamptonshire: Daventry, Kettering and Corby.

Contract/Hours: Permanent Part-time - working a minimum of 4-7 hours per week dependent on the service with more hours available during the school holidays.

Expected Working Patterns: Saturdays in term time and varied weekdays during school holidays.

We can offer flexible working hours to fit in around your course, family, or other job:

  • Term time or school holidays

We are currently looking for a Children’s Services Worker to help us maintain providing excellent support to Children and young people aged 5 – 18.

Northants Short Breaks Service is a county-wide service providing short breaks to children and young people and their families, supporting a range of ages and needs. We have an inclusive approach that considers age, disability, and wider needs. It fits with our ethos of believing in the importance of allowing children and young people to socialise and develop relationships with other children and young people, regardless of their age, need and ability.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

  • As a Children’s Services worker you will be getting involved in lots of fun activities! arts & crafts, leisure activities, park visit, bowling and many more.
  • Providing 1:1 support in group activities.
  • Planning and executing activities and encouraging active participation across our group sessions.
  • Being a creative thinker and having a solution focused approach.
  • Using your skills, knowledge, and experience to meet the needs of young people.
  • Taking responsibility for the personal care and daily routines of the young people.

In this role, you'll contribute to our vision of ensuring safe and happy childhoods. To achieve that real change to vulnerable children, young people and families, there'll be certain qualities that you will have.

Our job description for the Community Short Break Worker outlines the requirements of the role but the ‘must-haves' are:

  • A positive approach, providing a fun environment for all the children in our care.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practices.
  • Creative, positive, and proactive approach towards work.
  • Confidence to participate in group work which supports children and young people's emotional health and wellbeing.
  • The ability to travel across remote locations.
