Role Description
The Chinese Trader role is a full-time, on-site position based in the London Area, United Kingdom. This role involves executing and managing trading activities focused on Chinese markets and instruments, including monitoring market trends, price movements, and news flow relevant to China. The trader will analyze financial data, develop and implement trading strategies, and manage risk within defined limits and compliance standards.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Maintaining relationships with brokers and counterparties
- Preparing market and performance reports
- Collaborating with internal teams such as research, risk, and compliance
The role also requires staying current on regulatory developments impacting Chinese markets and contributing insights to support broader investment and business decisions.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of Chinese financial markets, products, and regulatory environment, with experience executing trades and managing positions related to China.
- Proficiency in market analysis, including quantitative and qualitative research, data interpretation, and development of trading strategies.
- Solid understanding of risk management principles, trading limits, and compliance requirements within a regulated financial services environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with brokers, counterparties, and internal stakeholders across research, risk, and operations.
- Fluency in English and professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) to engage with market participants and review source materials.
- Advanced user of trading platforms and market data tools, with strong Excel and general analytical skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA or equivalent) are an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, make sound decisions under pressure, and uphold high ethical and professional standards.
