We are currently recruiting for a Choice Based Lettings Visiting Officer
This is a permanent, full-time position (37 hours per week).
Role Overview
As a Choice Based Lettings Visiting Officer, you will play a key role in helping residents access suitable housing. You will carry out home visits to assess and verify housing need, support the management of the housing register, and assist in the fair allocation of homes in line with the Council's Allocations Policy. Working closely with applicants, colleagues, landlords and partner agencies, you will deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service and provide advice and support to those seeking housing assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver an effective, efficient, and sensitive Choice Based Lettings service.
- Help residents access suitable housing and support them through the allocations process.
- Undertake home visits to verify applicants' housing circumstances, assess housing and support needs, and determine eligibility for the housing register in accordance with the Council's Allocations Policy.

About You
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused individual with excellent interpersonal skills, experience of conducting home visits, and a passion for helping people access suitable housing. You will be confident working independently, making informed decisions, and building positive relationships with customers, colleagues, landlords, and partner organisations.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience working in a housing, customer service, or public sector environment.
- Experience carrying out home visits and assessing customer needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- The ability to manage a varied workload, prioritise tasks, and make informed decisions.
- Strong organisational, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of working with vulnerable customers and handling sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
- An NVQ Level 2 qualification, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
