Incredible Kids is an award-winning Christian charity helping disabled children and young people and their families make friends and have fun. We're looking for Christian trustees to shape our future. Gain board experience and help 1,600+ local families.
What difference will you make?
With finance skills, you'll help the board make one of the biggest decisions in our history with confidence buying a building, working out what it will really cost to run, and making sure it's sustainable long after the keys are handed over.
With marketing skills, you'll help us reach families who don't know we exist yet, and tell our story in a way that brings in new supporters, donors, and income beyond grants.
As a student, you'll bring a fresh perspective and gain experience at board level making decisions.
Either way, you'll free our founder to focus on leading the charity rather than carrying the board as well, and that makes everything we do stronger.
For families, it means somewhere to go that isn't borrowed or at risk of disappearing. Many of the parents we support have had services close on them before; this charity started because one did.
By delivering our business plan and securing a permanent home for our service, you'll make sure disabled children and young people in Bristol are supported to have fun for years to come.
What are we looking for?
We're not looking for one type of person. Our best trustees could be a student wanting their first experience of a board, a young person with fresh ideas, someone recently retired with time and wisdom to share, a parent carer who knows first-hand what families need, or a business professional wanting to use their skills somewhere that matters.

Lived experience of disability, additional needs, or caring is really valuable to us, whether that's as a parent, sibling, or a disabled person yourself. So is any experience in finance, marketing, fundraising, property, or running a business or organization. If you've never been a trustee before, we'll support you to learn the role.
As a Christian charity, our trustees need to share the Christian faith.

What will you be doing?
For 14 years we've grown from church hall sessions into a service used by over 1,600 local families, and we're now working towards a lasting solution for our service a permanent home of our own.

At the moment we run sessions from rented space at The Vench in Lockleaze, The Ranch in Southmead, and Filton Children's Centre. We've got legacy funding in place and are looking at buildings, and the board will be leading the decisions about what we buy, how we pay to run it, and how we grow our work once we're there. Getting this right will shape the charity for years.
Alongside that, we need a business plan that makes us less dependent on grants. Funding for small charities is harder to win than it's ever been, and we want a mix of income that lets us keep sessions affordable for families who are often already stretched.
Our board is small, with 4 trustees, and our founder is currently acting as Chair as well as leading the charity day to day. We're a friendly, practical board that works closely with the team, and we want to share the load more widely. Whatever your experience and background, we'd be glad to talk about where your experience fits best.
As a Christian charity, our governing document requires trustees to share the Christian faith. You don't need a background in disability or SEND; we'd love you to come along to a session and meet the families before you decide.
