The Company
Our client is a premier, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy renowned for solving complex, mission-critical engineering challenges across high-hazard and regulated sectors. Joining their growing Control & Instrumentation (C&I) team offers a dynamic environment with clear pathways for professional progression, chartership, and expansion into new technical sectors.
Role Overview
As an Experienced C&I and Functional Safety Consultant, you will lead and deliver a diverse range of high-profile projects—from small scoping and feasibility studies for site upgrades to complex process plant designs across Civil Nuclear, Defence Facilities, COMAH sites, Renewable Energy, and Energy Storage Systems. You will act as both a technical lead and client-facing partner, managing multi-disciplinary engineering interfaces, delivering novel control and safety system designs, and leading technical project teams to ensure safety-critical standards are met on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Technical Leadership: Lead C&I projects through the full lifecycle—from concept design to commissioning—managing project teams, timelines, and budgets.
- Control & Safety Systems: Design novel process control systems and accompanying safety systems for safety-critical environments.
- Innovation & Delivery: Drive innovation projects, transitioning new systems and technologies from early concept through to formal acceptance.
- Documentation & Verification: Oversee, produce, verify, and approve electrical reports, specifications, and detailed design drawings (SLDs, P&IDs, BCDs, schematics).
- Client Engagement: Manage client relationships to define requirements, negotiate technical scope, manage project risks, and deliver progress reporting.
- Mentorship: Mentor and develop junior electrical and C&I engineers within the team.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
