Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site Circumcision Specialist role based at EDGBASTON WELLNESS CLINIC in Birmingham. The Circumcision Specialist will perform circumcision procedures in accordance with current clinical guidelines, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and informed consent at all times.

  • Conducting pre-procedure assessments
  • Explaining treatment options and aftercare
  • Performing procedures
  • Monitoring patients
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
  • Adhering to infection control protocols
  • Collaborating with other clinicians and support staff to coordinate patient care
  • Providing clear pre and post-procedure instructions
  • Addressing patient and family concerns
  • Participating in ongoing training and quality assurance activities

The specialist will be assisted appropriately by surgical nurses.

Qualifications

  • Recognized medical qualification and full registration with the appropriate medical regulatory body, with demonstrable training and experience in minor surgical procedures, including circumcision.
  • Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, local anesthesia administration, wound care, and post-procedure follow-up within an outpatient or clinic setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide sensitive, culturally aware counseling and clear explanations to patients and families.
  • Commitment to patient safety, infection prevention and control, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to clinical governance and relevant legal and ethical standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, manage time effectively in a busy clinic environment, and maintain a calm, professional manner under pressure.
  • Previous experience in an aesthetic, wellness, or minor surgery clinic is beneficial; additional training in men’s health or pediatric care is an advantage.
