Civil Design Engineer Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a Civil Design Engineer to join a well-established and highly regarded civil engineering contractor supporting major infrastructure and utility projects across the UK. Working within a multidisciplinary design team, you will contribute to the delivery of civil engineering solutions on a range of projects spanning the water, industrial, energy and design-and-build sectors.

This is an excellent long-term contract opportunity for an engineer with strong design experience who is looking to develop their technical capabilities while working on nationally significant infrastructure programmes.

The Role

Reporting to a Senior Engineer, you will support the delivery of a portfolio of projects, undertaking civil engineering design work from concept through to detailed design. The position offers a blend of office and remote working, with occasional site visits required to support project development and construction activities and a move towards fully remote working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce outline and detailed civil engineering designs in accordance with current standards and specifications.
  • Prepare design calculations, technical reports, drawings and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with BIM-led design delivery and coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Utilise industry-standard analysis and design software to develop engineering solutions.
  • Plan and manage your own workload to achieve programme and budget requirements.
  • Support quality assurance processes and compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Work collaboratively with project stakeholders to understand project objectives and develop practical, buildable solutions.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to junior team members when required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
