Civil Engineer - Highways & Drainage - Edinburgh
Location: Edinburgh
Salary: 34k-46k DOE
Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Working: Hybrid - 3 days office / 2 days home
The Opportunity
An established and growing engineering consultancy is looking for a Civil Engineer to join its expanding Power & Energy team in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of UK infrastructure projects, supporting clients from early feasibility and concept through to detailed design and delivery. The role offers exposure to technically interesting projects across power, energy, rail and wider infrastructure, working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, sustainable and practical engineering solutions.
The Role
You'll play a key role in the delivery of highway, drainage and civil infrastructure design, working closely with engineers, clients and other disciplines to develop coordinated solutions. Key responsibilities include:
- Producing highway, drainage and infrastructure designs from concept through to detailed design
- Supporting the delivery of infrastructure projects across the Power & Energy sector
- Preparing technical drawings, design information and supporting calculations
- Using Civil 3D, InfoDrainage or equivalent design software
- Supporting feasibility studies, concept design and detailed design packages
- Contributing to tender submissions and technical documentation
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary design teams
- Attending client and site meetings and supporting site inspections
- Identifying and managing technical risks throughout project delivery
- Supporting design assurance and maintaining high standards of technical quality
- Developing strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders
- Sharing knowledge and supporting junior members of the team

What We're Looking For
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience within a consultancy or design environment
- Experience delivering highway, drainage or infrastructure designs
- Good knowledge of Civil 3D and InfoDrainage, or equivalent software
- Strong technical understanding and a practical approach to problem solving
- Good communication skills and confidence dealing with clients and stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
- Proactive approach to risk management, quality and technical delivery
- Working towards Chartership or another professional accreditation
- Full UK driving licence desirable for occasional site visits
