Civil Design Engineer
Location: Peterborough (Flexible Hybrid)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Our client, a leading Tier 1 Contractor within the UK water sector, is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join their engineering team based in Peterborough, with hybrid working available. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering design solutions that minimise risk and maximise value across turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate design activities, produce technical documentation and drawings, and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety, environmental, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce cost-effective design layouts that meet project specifications and can be constructed and commissioned efficiently.
- Prepare engineering designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Ensure standard engineering practices are applied where appropriate.
- Provide technical input and estimates to support project proposals.
- Follow and contribute to engineering procedures and processes.
- Monitor and review procedures to support continuous improvement.
- Coordinate designs with internal and external stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
- Ensure environmental considerations are incorporated into design solutions.
- Maintain compliance with all health and safety requirements.
- Support a customer-focused culture across projects and departments.

About You
Essential
- HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Significant experience in Civil Engineering design.
- Understanding of water and wastewater treatment principles.
- Ability to develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions and plant layouts.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess large volumes of technical information.
- Ability to present technical proposals clearly and confidently.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with engineering software packages.

Desirable
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience within the UK water industry.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
