Civil Design Engineer - Contract

Employment Type: Contract | Inside IR35
Location: Flexible UK | Hybrid / Remote options available
Rate: Competitive hourly rate

Have you worked within the UK water sector, ideally across non-infrastructure projects?

What will you be doing?

  • Deliver civil engineering design packages across water sector projects
  • Produce and review design calculations, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Develop detailed civil designs for non-infrastructure water projects
  • Collect, analyse, and manage technical information
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Support delivery against programme, budget, quality, and technical requirements
  • Review designs and technical deliverables to ensure compliance with relevant standards
  • Provide technical support and knowledge sharing across the wider engineering team

Where will you be doing it?

You'll be supporting a leading UK engineering consultancy delivering major water and environmental infrastructure programmes. The business has secured significant AMP8 framework work and is expanding its delivery team to support a growing pipeline of non-infrastructure water projects. The role offers flexibility around location and working arrangements, with opportunities to work remotely or from regional offices depending on project requirements.

What will you need?

  • BSc or MSc in Civil Engineering
  • Previous experience in civil design and detailed engineering
  • Water sector experience, particularly non-infrastructure projects, is highly desirable
  • Experience working within a design and build environment
  • Strong understanding of relevant civil engineering standards and practices
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and deliver high-quality engineering outputs
  • Chartered Engineer status or active progression towards chartership would be advantageous
