Civil Engineer (Water & Utilities)
Location: Cardiff or Bristol
Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid (2/3 days in the office)
Are you a Civil Engineer with experience in the UK water sector looking to develop your career on major infrastructure programmes?
We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join a growing team in Cardiff or Bristol, supporting the delivery of a multi-billion-pound pipeline of investment projects across AMP8 and beyond. Working alongside experienced Senior and Principal Engineers, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of a diverse portfolio of water infrastructure schemes for UK Water Authorities.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging projects while receiving genuine support towards professional development, chartership, and long-term career progression.
The Role
As a Civil Engineer, you will contribute to the design and delivery of a range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including:
- New and replacement potable water mains
- Foul drainage and CSO remediation schemes
- Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
- Conventional surface water drainage design
- Civil engineering design and modelling activities
- Technical assessments, calculations, and reporting
- Coordination with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
- Supporting project delivery across multiple concurrent assignments
You will be encouraged to take ownership of your work, solve complex engineering challenges, and contribute to successful project outcomes for clients across the water sector.

About You
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have:
- At least 3 years' experience within the UK water industry
- Experience in potable water, surface water and/or foul water design or construction
- A Civil Engineering degree, ideally at Master's level
- Progress towards, or a desire to achieve, professional qualification through ICE or CIWEM
- Experience using MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, or similar 3D design and modelling software
- Knowledge of Water Authority approval processes including S104 and S106 agreements
- Experience working with SuDS Approval Bodies
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- A proactive, methodical approach to problem solving
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
