Role Overview

We are looking to recruit a Civil & Drainage Infrastructure Engineer to join our Peterborough or Birmingham Industry & Buildings team, to become an integral member of our skilled team and assist with our growing workload.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the civil and drainage infrastructure design on greenfield or brownfield projects for logistics, industrial, and commercial Clients. Project responsibility will be varied from inception of defining a Client’s design brief to inspections, specifications, and design. You will be flexible, dynamic with the ability to assist in the development of our growing team. This role requires someone with the ability to deliver quality, robust deliverables on time and within budget.

Our projects cover a wide range of sectors including industrial, logistics, people buildings, food & beverage, and automotive, including many more.

Main Work Areas

  • Technical responsibility for ensuring designs are delivered in accordance with current standards & best practices.
  • Preparation of designs for civil/ utilities/ pavement and drainage schemes, from initial feasibility, planning schemes, concept through to detailed design.
  • Production of design calculations, checking and reviewing of calculations prepared by others.
  • Producing Microdrainage designs for below ground drainage, including schedules.
  • Producing sketch drawings and designs for development by technicians, checking and reviewing prior to issue.
  • Maintain awareness of commercial and technical management of projects to assist in ensuring that they are managed effectively within budgetary constraints.
  • Develop innovative design solutions to serve and benefit clients.
  • Promote the implementation of digital, automation, and parametric methods of design on projects.

Required Skills and Experience

  • BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering (Preferred)
  • Min. 8 years’ experience
  • Chartered (or close to achieving chartered engineer status) with ICE or equivalent professional institution
  • Competent in the use of Micro Drainage software
  • Proven knowledge and experience in industrial engineering, pavement, and drainage design to provide specialist technical advice to a number of projects as required across the business.
  • Experience of Civil 3D
  • Experience of SUDS
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience of pumped drainage systems
  • Experience of surcharged outfalls
  • Industrial pavement design
  • Trade effluent design (experience of industrial / heavy industrial sites in particular would be advantageous)
  • Knowledge of utilities and experience of interfacing utilities with both industrial sites and highway schemes
  • Experience of DMRB design
  • Experience of Specification for Highways Works
