Civil Team Leader – Drainage / Water
Salford, Manchester | £50,000–£60,000+ | Hybrid
I’m currently working with a leading UK infrastructure business on an opportunity for an experienced Team Leader to join their growing water and drainage team in Salford.
The team currently has around 10 people in Salford, with approximately 30 people across the wider Manchester office, and is continuing to grow due to a strong pipeline of work across water, regulated water and drainage, including CSO and AMP8 programmes.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer, Technical Lead or existing Team Leader with around 7–10+ years’ experience to take on a genuine leadership position.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading and supporting a team of engineers across drainage, water and wider civil infrastructure
- Providing technical leadership and guidance across project delivery
- Taking ownership of projects and technical packages from design through to delivery
- Working across water, regulated water, drainage and AMP programmes
- Supporting the delivery of CSO / storm overflow and wider regulated water schemes
- Managing technical delivery, programmes, budgets and client requirements
- Working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
- Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level engineers
- Helping develop the team’s technical capability as the workload continues to increase
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
