About the Opportunity
Skilled Careers is working with a genuinely forward-thinking, sustainability-led engineering consultancy to recruit a Civil Design Engineer to join its growing team near London Bridge.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a consultancy that is challenging traditional approaches to engineering and placing sustainability, innovation and ethical decision-making at the heart of its work. The team delivers prestigious projects across highways, drainage, Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and Section 278 (S278) schemes, with a strong focus on circular design principles and creating sustainable, long-term solutions for the built environment.
The consultancy brings art and science together to solve complex engineering challenges, with a clear commitment to protecting the climate, supporting communities and ensuring engineers have a meaningful voice in the projects they deliver.

The Role
As a Civil Design Engineer, you will contribute to the design and delivery of a range of exciting infrastructure and development projects, working collaboratively with colleagues and other project stakeholders to develop innovative, sustainable and practical engineering solutions.

You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of civil engineering disciplines, contribute to projects from design through to delivery, and play an active role in promoting environmentally responsible engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and delivery of civil engineering schemes across highways, drainage, SuDS and S278 projects.
- Develop practical, innovative and sustainable engineering solutions that meet project requirements.
- Apply sustainable and circular design principles to help minimise environmental impact.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the preparation of engineering designs, drawings, calculations and technical documentation.
- Help ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations and project specifications.
- Contribute to technical discussions, design reviews and the continuous improvement of engineering practices.
- Consider the wider environmental, social and ethical implications of engineering decisions.
About You
We are keen to hear from Civil Design Engineers who are enthusiastic about delivering high-quality engineering solutions and are motivated by the opportunity to work for a consultancy with a strong sustainability ethos.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in civil engineering design within a consultancy or similar engineering environment.
- Exposure to highways, drainage, SuDS and/or S278 design.
- An understanding of relevant design standards, technical requirements and engineering best practice.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A proactive approach to learning, professional development and continuous improvement.
- A genuine interest in sustainability, circular design and environmentally responsible engineering.
