The Role
As a Civil Engineer, you’ll play a crucial part in delivering high-impact water and wastewater projects that enhance efficiency, sustainability, and community resilience. Your work will directly influence the design, construction, and commissioning of assets, shaping the future of Scotland’s water infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Design:
- Develop detailed civil, hydraulic, and structural designs (calculations, reports, schedules)
- Create and review technical and commercial specifications
- Produce, develop, and annotate models and drawings

Integrated Project Delivery:
- Collaborate with commercial, operational, and construction teams to ensure safe, practical, and efficient asset delivery
- Contribute to whole-life carbon and circular economy strategies in designs
- Conduct site and asset surveys to refine design requirements

Discipline Coordination:
- Work with Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Geotechnical, and Structural specialists
- Manage design interfaces, ensuring alignment with programme, budget, and quality standards

Client Engagement:
- Manage relationships with clients in a one-team approach
- Actively represent MMB’s technical expertise to achieve client objectives
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Eligible or working towards Chartership (IEng / CEng) with a recognised institution
- Experience in water/wastewater sector is preferable but not mandatory
Skills & Attributes
- Strong problem-solving and methodical approach to engineering challenges
- Effective communication with teams, stakeholders, and clients
- Willingness to travel across Scotland (valid driving licence required)
