Civil Engineer (Water Industry) | Contract Opportunity

Are you a skilled Civil Engineer with expertise in clean water or wastewater infrastructure? Looking to lead impactful design packages on major UK projects?

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer (Water) to join a high-performing, multidisciplinary team delivering complex, nationally significant water infrastructure projects across the UK.

Role Overview:

Role: Civil Engineer (Water)

Contract: Long-term Contract Opportunity

Location: Epsom, London, Peterborough, or Cambridge

Working Pattern: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days/week office or client site)

What You’ll Be Doing:

In this role, you will take technical ownership of civil engineering design packages from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.

  • Technical Leadership: Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary civil design teams across clean water, wastewater, pipeline design, and water reuse schemes.
  • Deliverables: Produce and review technical design reports, engineering calculations, specifications, scopes of work, and drawings.
  • Collaboration: Partner with mechanical, electrical, ICA, structural, and geotechnical disciplines, as well as main contractors and project managers.
  • Mentorship & Quality: Guide junior engineers, participate in design reviews, and manage technical risk assurance.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Sector Expertise: Proven track record delivering civil design within the UK Water Sector.
  • Technical Depth: Hands-on experience with clean water/wastewater systems, hydraulics, pipeline design, and full project lifecycles.
  • Standards & Regs: Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations, Eurocodes, NEC contracts, and UK water industry specifications.
  • Team Leadership: Ability to lead design packages and mentor junior talent in a collaborative environment.

Preferred / Desirable:

  • Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) status.
  • Consultancy experience on major UK water utility programmes.
  • Experience with bid technical support and proposals.
