Job Description

This specialist civil/structural consultancy are an award-winning firm who focus on assessing, maintaining, and extending the serviceable life of a wide range of damaged and deteriorating concrete structures. They are an Irish firm established over 20 years, with a growing London/M25 presence and workload. The London team currently have one Associate and one engineer and are seeking another mid-level person to join their team. The role would suit someone with at least 2 years' experience, which could be with a contractor or consultant. You would be working alongside the Associate under supervision initially.

Responsibilities

  • Specialist work involving forensic engineering and failure analysis, structural assessment, inspections, and load testing
  • Cathodic protection, structural health monitoring, expert witness work, materials testing, and report writing
  • Structures could include bridges, tunnels, buildings, underground chambers, wharfs, jetties, pipelines, and car parks

Requirements

  • A mix of office work and site
  • Good communication skills
  • Prepared to get hands dirty on site, collect material samples, do surveying, go up on high platforms for multi-storey buildings, and go into tunnels and small spaces
  • Ability to use a drill
  • Common sense and a good understanding of civil and structural works are essential
  • Ability to use AutoCAD is useful

  • Willingness for occasional travel to Ireland would be useful
