Emtec Utility Services is helping drive the transition to a more sustainable future by delivering innovative engineering solutions across the energy sector. From renewable energy infrastructure to grid-scale developments, our teams are building the foundations for tomorrow’s energy systems.

With an impressive pipeline of work and ambitious plans for growth, we’re looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join our team at our Uddingston HQ with regular travel to sites throughout the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a varied range of projects while gaining exposure to new and developing technologies across the renewables, utilities and infrastructure sectors.

The Role

As Civil Engineer, you’ll play an important role throughout the full project lifecycle, developing practical civil engineering solutions and providing technical support from initial design through to construction.

You’ll work closely with consultants, contractors and internal project teams to ensure civil works are safe, compliant, buildable and delivered in line with project requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing civil solutions for renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Producing calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
  • Developing earthworks, drainage, access road, foundation and retaining structure designs.
  • Coordinating site surveys and supporting planning and regulatory approvals.
  • Reviewing consultant and subcontractor designs for compliance and buildability.
  • Supporting construction teams with technical queries and design changes.
  • Identifying engineering risks and contributing to constructability reviews.
  • Ensuring all work meets CDM, safety, environmental and industry standards.
  • Promoting a strong safety-first culture across all projects.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
