Looking for a different kind of Civil Engineering career?
Perhaps you're currently working in consultancy and want to spend less time behind a desk and more time seeing projects come to life.
Maybe you're working for a contractor and are ready to trade long hours, site pressures, and relentless deadlines for a healthier work-life balance.
Or perhaps you're already client-side and looking for more variety, ownership, and the opportunity to work on projects that make a genuine difference. If that sounds familiar, this could be exactly what you're looking for.
Our client, the UK's largest land manager, is looking for a Civil Engineer to help manage and deliver infrastructure projects across some of the country's most important forests and landscapes.
Why this role?
This isn't a traditional consultancy or contractor role.
You'll take ownership of projects from concept through to completion, helping maintain and improve a diverse portfolio of civil engineering assets. One project might involve refurbishing a reservoir, another upgrading forest roads, delivering visitor facilities, improving car parks, maintaining bridges, or supporting the development of nationally recognised cycling and recreation trails.
No two days are the same.
You'll split your time between site visits, contractor engagement, design reviews, project planning, and stakeholder management. Rather than focusing on a single asset type or project sector, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of engineering challenges while helping ensure the infrastructure is safe, sustainable, and fit for future generations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
