Civil Engineer

MCS Group is delighted to be recruiting a Civil Engineer for our client, a leading environmental and industrial services business operating across the UK and Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil Engineer to oversee drainage investigations, identify technical issues and coordinate a small team delivering drainage rehabilitation and associated civil works across Northern Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review CCTV drainage footage and survey information to identify defects and determine root causes.
  • Prepare technical reports and recommend appropriate remedial works.
  • Coordinate and allocate daily and weekly workloads across a small team of drainage engineers and operatives.
  • Support the delivery of drainage repairs, rehabilitation and small civil engineering projects.
  • Carry out site visits to assess drainage issues and monitor work as required.
  • Liaise with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of works.
  • Monitor progress, resolve technical issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate technical records and project documentation.
  • Ensure works are completed in line with relevant health, safety and environmental requirements.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation, or a willingness to work towards it.
  • Experience in civil engineering, drainage, infrastructure or a related technical environment.
  • Ability to interpret CCTV footage, assess technical information and identify root causes of drainage problems.
  • Experience coordinating workloads or supervising engineers, technicians or operational teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A practical, organised and solution-focused approach.
