Civil Engineer – Marine & Coastal Projects

Working pattern: Predominantly office-based, with occasional UK travel

The Opportunity

Are you a Civil Engineer with experience in marine, coastal, offshore or construction environments who is ready for a new challenge?

This is an opportunity to move into a predominantly office-based engineering role, where your practical experience can help shape marine and coastal projects from the early tender stage through to delivery.

If you've spent much of your career on site, this is your chance to bring that experience into the office — developing practical engineering solutions, influencing how projects are delivered and working alongside experienced project and engineering teams.

This is also a rare opportunity to help establish and grow a brand-new civil engineering team within a well-established, marine-focused business. You'll have the chance to play a key role in shaping how the team develops, the projects it delivers and the solutions it brings to clients.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

The Role

You'll be involved across the full project lifecycle, including:

  • Developing engineering solutions and construction methodologies for marine and coastal projects.
  • Supporting tenders with technical input, concepts, methodologies and cost information.
  • Working with Project Managers, engineers, clients and specialist contractors to develop practical and commercially viable solutions.
  • Preparing and reviewing engineering documentation, including scopes, technical notes, RAMS and installation methodologies.
  • Identifying engineering and operational challenges early and finding practical solutions.
  • Supporting project delivery by providing technical guidance to site teams when required.
  • Reviewing surveys, drawings, specifications, quality information and as-built documentation.
  • Contributing to projects involving quays, jetties, foundations, coastal protection, trenching, cable landfalls and other marine infrastructure.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an engineer who understands how projects actually get built.

Your experience might come from:

  • Civil, marine or coastal engineering
  • Marine or offshore construction
  • Piling, foundations or temporary works
  • Quays, jetties or coastal protection
  • Subsea or nearshore projects
  • Trenching or cable landfalls

Why Make the Move?

This isn't simply a move from site to office.

It's an opportunity to use your site experience to influence projects before they reach site, get involved in the technical and commercial side of project development, and build your career in a broader engineering role.

You'll still be working in the marine and construction world — but with the opportunity to have a greater influence on how projects are planned, engineered and delivered.

If you're ready to move away from being on site every day — without leaving the marine and construction world behind — this could be the next step for you.
