The Position: Civil Engineer - Nuclear New Build Design & Technical Specifications
We are currently seeking Civil Engineers to support a major nuclear new build programme, contributing to the development, review, and update of civil engineering technical documentation across large-scale infrastructure and nuclear facilities. This role offers the opportunity to work on nationally significant projects focused on civil structures, construction methodologies, technical specifications, design justification, and engineering compliance within a highly regulated environment.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Civil Engineer will include:
- Review and assess civil engineering technical specifications, design documentation, and engineering deliverables.
- Carry out civil engineering gap analysis to identify project-specific updates and technical changes.
- Update and develop civil engineering technical documentation, specifications, and construction requirements.
- Support the replication and adaptation of civil engineering designs for nuclear new build infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to gather technical information and ensure design consistency.
- Review civil structures, geotechnical information, and construction methodologies against project requirements.
- Participate in technical workshops, engineering reviews, and stakeholder meetings to support project delivery.
- Ensure engineering documentation complies with relevant industry standards, health and safety legislation, and project quality requirements.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to some of the UK's most significant infrastructure and nuclear new build developments. You will work within a collaborative engineering environment where technical quality, engineering excellence, and knowledge sharing are central to successful project delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
