Civil Engineer

Blue Diamond Recruitment is supporting an established house builder with the appointment of a Civil Engineer to join its in-house Technical team located in the East Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer to become involved in a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and industrial developments, providing engineering input from technical design and approvals through to construction and delivery on site.

Working closely with the wider Technical and site teams, you will help ensure developments are technically ready for construction and provide practical engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

The Role

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing civil engineering requirements across residential, commercial and industrial developments
  • Preparing and reviewing highways, drainage and infrastructure designs
  • Securing statutory and technical approvals from highways, drainage and other adopting authorities
  • Managing Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 agreements
  • Ensuring engineering designs comply with relevant legislation, technical standards and adopting authority requirements
  • Producing practical, buildable and commercially considered engineering solutions
  • Coordinating and managing external engineering consultants
  • Supporting site and construction teams with technical queries and resolving engineering issues
  • Helping ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget and required quality standards
  • Maintaining appropriate Health & Safety and company standards throughout project delivery

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

  • HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction or an equivalent qualification/level of experience
  • Previous civil engineering experience within residential development, housebuilding or a relevant consultancy environment
  • Experience in the design and technical approval of highways and drainage infrastructure
  • Knowledge of S38, S278 and S104 agreements
  • Competency using AutoCAD and civil engineering/drainage design software
  • A good understanding of relevant industry standards and guidance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A practical and proactive approach to problem solving
