Civil Engineer (Water) – Contract
Location: Hybrid Working (Epsom, London, Peterborough, Cambridge)
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer (Water) to join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering major UK water infrastructure projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer with experience across clean water and wastewater infrastructure to take a leading role in the design and delivery of complex projects, from feasibility and concept through to detailed design and construction support.
You will work closely with clients, contractors, project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, providing technical leadership and helping deliver high-quality, practical engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate civil engineering design packages across major clean water and wastewater projects.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and support to Civil Engineers within multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop and review design reports, calculations, drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
- Deliver engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept through to detailed design and construction.
- Coordinate with MEICA, structural, geotechnical and project management teams, while liaising with clients and contractors.
- Ensure designs meet UK water industry standards, CDM, regulatory requirements and client specifications, while supporting design assurance, risk management and tender activities.

About You
We are looking for a Civil Engineer with:
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with proven UK water-sector design experience.
- Experience leading or coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and working collaboratively with contractors and stakeholders.
- Strong technical knowledge of clean water, wastewater, hydraulics, pipelines and water reuse.
- Experience delivering projects across the full lifecycle, from feasibility and concept through to detailed design and construction.
- Strong understanding of design management, risk assessment and technical assurance, with knowledge of CDM, Eurocodes, NEC and UK water industry standards.
- Excellent technical leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to mentor and support other engineers.

Desirable
- CEng or IEng status.
- Previous engineering consultancy experience.
- Experience working on major UK water infrastructure programmes.
- Knowledge of water utility specifications and design standards.
- Experience supporting bids, tenders and business development.
