Job Description

The Opportunity
As a Civil Engineering Graduate, you'll earn a salary of £37,500 per annum. The programme is expected to begin in early September 2027, when you'll join our graduate community and start building your career at EDF. You'll also have the opportunity to undertake continuous professional development and work towards relevant professional registration with support from accredited professional bodies, including the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
Over the course of a 16-month programme, you'll contribute to a variety of civil engineering projects across EDF's nuclear business. From supporting design activities and site inspections to working on operating power stations and nuclear new build projects, you'll build valuable technical experience while helping support the transition towards An Electric Britain.
What You’ll Experience
Being part of EDF means helping to shape the future of low-carbon energy. You'll contribute to projects that support the UK's energy security while playing a role in maintaining and developing infrastructure that powers homes, businesses and communities across Britain.
Throughout the programme, you'll gain hands-on experience across a range of civil engineering environments. Recent graduates have completed site walk downs, developed tools to automate calculations, supported engineering modifications and worked closely with designers and contractors on major nuclear projects using industry-standard software such as Navisworks and PDMS.
We'll support your growth through a tailored development pathway, giving you the opportunity to explore different teams, projects and locations. With guidance from experienced colleagues, you'll strengthen your technical knowledge, build professional confidence and develop the skills needed for a successful engineering career.
Location
You'll be based at one of our key sites – #Gloucester or #Glasgow – with opportunities to complete placements across different parts of our business depending on project and development requirements.

Most roles require attendance on site between three and five days per week. During the programme, you may be asked to relocate temporarily for placements, and we'll provide practical and financial support to help make these moves as smooth as possible.
Where This Programme Could Take You
Joshua joined EDF's Science and Engineering Graduate Programme and completed the scheme in early 2026. During his programme, he gained experience across Nuclear Services, worked with civil engineering teams and completed a placement at Heysham A power station, giving him valuable insight into different parts of the nuclear industry.
Today, Joshua continues to broaden his experience across EDF's engineering community. His placements have included work supporting nuclear new build activities and design engineering projects, helping him build a wide-ranging understanding of the business while developing clear long-term career goals within the nuclear sector.

Who You Are
To be eligible for this EDF graduate programme, you need to have achieved, or be expecting to achieve, a Bachelor's or Postgraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline. You'll also have an interest in nuclear energy, power generation and technology.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
Please note that an Assessment Centre stage of the hiring process will take place virtually on 10 November 2026. Applicants must be able to attend on this date to be considered for the programme.
