Role Overview

We are seeking an Infrastructure Technician to join our Glasgow office. This opportunity would suit someone with experience in civil engineering or infrastructure design who is confident producing accurate drawings, models and technical information for highways, drainage, external works and general civil engineering projects.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across residential, commercial, industrial and public-sector developments. Working closely with engineers, senior technicians and multidisciplinary project teams, the role will focus on producing high-quality design outputs, supporting project delivery and ensuring all work aligns with relevant technical standards and Fairhurst’s quality expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design & Drafting

  • Produce high-quality 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or similar design tools for highways, drainage, levels, external works and general civil engineering schemes.
  • Prepare engineering layouts, sections, details, construction drawings and design models to support project delivery from feasibility through to planning, tender and construction stages.
  • Support digital design development, including BIM-compliant models and coordinated design information where required.
  • Update drawings and models to reflect design changes, engineer instructions, client comments and stakeholder feedback.

Standards, Compliance & Approvals

  • Prepare design outputs and supporting information in accordance with relevant UK design standards, regulations and client requirements.
  • Assist engineers with the preparation and coordination of technical submissions for planning, statutory approvals and other regulatory processes.
  • Support the development of drawings and information for highways, drainage, utilities coordination, earthworks and external works packages.
  • Ensure design information complies with internal quality procedures, industry best practice and agreed documentation standards.

Project Delivery

  • Work collaboratively with engineers and senior technicians to deliver design packages on time and in line with agreed budgets and programmes.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical schedules, design information, quantities, calculations and project documentation.
  • Support site-based activities including inspections, surveys and information gathering to inform design development.
  • Maintain organised project files and support efficient workflow processes across the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
