Summary
As a Civil Engineering Technician Apprentice, you will be joining our expanding team, working with 3D CAD Models, asset data, construction records, to deliver an accurate representation of assured design, or constructed infrastructure to relevant standards.
Wage
£16,640 to £26,436.80, depending on your age

Monday to Friday 8 hours per day, plus one hour unpaid lunch break. Our typical working hours are between 08:00 - 17:30, but occasionally, overtime is available. 40 hours a week

What You'll Do at Work
As a Civil Engineering Technician Apprentice, you will be joining our expanding team, working with 3D CAD Models, asset data, construction records, to deliver an accurate representation of assured design, or constructed infrastructure to relevant standards.
- Design Development: Assist in the preparation and development of engineering designs across infrastructure projects e.g. highways, rail, utilities, or civil structures. Support the production of drawings, models, and technical documentation in accordance with project requirements. Contribute to coordinated design solutions within a multidisciplinary environment. Work within BIM and digital engineering workflows.
- Design and Construction Checking and Assurance: Undertake independent checks of design outputs under supervision, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Assist in verifying models, drawings, and data against project standards and specifications. Support quality assurance processes, including design reviews and clash detection. Develop an understanding of risk management in design.
- Project Management: You will be able to effectively manage your own time, and quality ensuring a right first time approach, with methodical and diligent delivery. Conversing and engaging with our client is essential, and building strong relationships and establishing mutual trust needs to be central to maintaining our current contracts, and winning new work.
- Software and Digital Delivery: Use native design software e.g. Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, OpenRoads, or similar to produce and review engineering models. Support model-based coordination and data validation activities. Learn to navigate Common Data Environments (CDEs) and information management systems. Assist in ensuring data and models meet information standards e.g. ISO 19650 principles.
- Future Opportunities: This has the potential to move into further qualifications and multiple roles within the business.

What You'll Learn
- Apply engineering principles, using relevant scientific, theoretical and technical know-how to solve well-defined civil engineering problems
- Apply civil engineering techniques, procedures and methods, and review the results, when measuring and testing, designing, installing, commissioning, maintaining or operating civil engineering systems
- Employ a range of advanced mathematical, statistical and data interpretation tools, using analytical and computational methods to interpret and solve civil engineering problems
- Interpret and compare performance information to choose compliant materials, components or parts
- Select and use technical literature and other sources of information and data to address well-defined civil engineering problems
- Produce and interpret civil engineering technical drawings, designs, and models, using analytical and computer-based software packages, recognising the limitations of the software used
- Produce civil engineering technical solutions in accordance with relevant industry standards, procedures, codes of practice, regulations, and legislation
- Comply with, and encourage others to demonstrate, statutory health, safety and welfare policies, procedures and regulation
- Complete risk assessments to identify, evaluate and mitigate risks
- Apply principles of sustainable development, and assess the impact of these in their work
- Employ project management techniques, measuring and recording progress against civil engineering project plans
- Assess and report on quality using appropriate management and assurance systems and continuous improvement processes
- Identify and use resources, equipment and technology to meet project requirements, including specifications, budget and timescales
- Monitor and manage individual performance, and supervise others, recognising the need to comply with appropriate codes of practice and equality, diversity & inclusion (EDI) requirements
- Communicate using appropriate methods for the audience, using appropriate engineering terminology and conventions
- Apply ethical principles to civil engineering projects, including the secure use of data and information
- Plan, undertake and review their own professional competence, updating and reviewing their CPD to improve performance

Other Requirements
You will be required to pass a DBS check, prove right to work within the UK without sponsorship and be able to travel daily into the company office, or to our clients sites. Strong oral and written English language skills are essential.
