Data Centres | Mission Critical Infrastructure | Hybrid Working | 9-Day Fortnight
We're recruiting on behalf of a leading international multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that's redefining how complex buildings are designed and delivered.
With an impressive portfolio spanning Data Centres, healthcare, commercial developments and large-scale infrastructure, this is an opportunity to work alongside some of the industry's brightest engineers, architects and designers on projects that genuinely shape the built environment.
If you're looking for a role where you'll be challenged technically, supported professionally and given a clear pathway towards Chartership and career progression, Lord Search and Selection would love to hear from you.
The Role
As a Civil Engineer, you'll become an integral part of a highly collaborative design team, delivering technically complex projects from concept through to construction.
Working closely with structural engineers, architects, MEP engineers and sustainability specialists, you'll help deliver innovative civil engineering solutions for major developments across the UK and internationally.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to some of the fastest-growing sectors in construction, particularly Data Centres and mission-critical infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing civil engineering designs for projects from concept through to detailed design.
- Designing levels, highways, pavements, drainage, earthworks and flood mitigation strategies.
- Coordinating below-ground utilities including drainage, ducts and services.
- Liaising with clients, architects and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Managing smaller projects independently whilst supporting larger, more complex schemes.
- Preparing technical reports, calculations and design documentation.
- Working with local authorities, Building Control, utility providers and statutory bodies to obtain approvals.
- Supporting BIM delivery across projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
