Position: Litigation Associate

About the Opportunity
micro1 is seeking accomplished Litigation Associates to contribute to a customer project at the intersection of litigation and legal AI. This opportunity is designed for experienced civil litigators with substantial federal court experience and a proven record of successful motion practice.
In this role, you will contribute your litigation expertise to workflows used to train and evaluate advanced AI systems. Your work will help improve how AI models analyze case law, construct legal arguments, evaluate litigation strategies, and draft persuasive motions with greater accuracy and legal judgment.
Responsibilities
- Perform simulated motion drafting, legal briefing, and litigation strategy exercises based on realistic federal civil litigation scenarios.
- Review and evaluate AI-generated responses to litigation problems for legal accuracy, reasoning quality, and practical usefulness.
- Provide detailed expert feedback to improve the precision and reliability of AI-generated litigation work.
- Develop objective evaluation frameworks, grading criteria, and rubrics for assessing AI performance on litigation-related tasks.
- Assess the quality of legal arguments, case analysis, procedural reasoning, and motion drafting.
- Identify errors, omissions, weaknesses, and inconsistencies in AI-generated litigation outputs.
- Translate practical courtroom and litigation experience into clear, actionable guidance for AI evaluation.
- Collaborate with product, research, and legal teams to refine datasets, guidelines, evaluation standards, and best practices.
- Apply strong legal judgment while maintaining consistency and objectivity across evaluation tasks.

Required Qualifications
- Substantial experience litigating civil matters in federal court.
- Strong experience with federal motion practice, legal briefing, and litigation strategy.
- A documented record of at least three successful motions in federal civil litigation, with supporting documentation such as court orders or docket entries.
- Strong knowledge of federal civil procedure and federal court practice.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to legal detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and legal reasoning abilities.
- Ability to translate practical litigation expertise into clear, actionable feedback.
- Experience working effectively with cross-disciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
- Interest in applying legal expertise to technology and AI-related workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with AI, legal technology, legal research technology, or AI training/evaluation initiatives.
- Experience handling a broad range of federal motion types, including:
- Motions to dismiss
- Motions for summary judgment
- Discovery motions
- Other substantive or procedural federal motions
- Experience evaluating legal arguments, drafting strategies, or litigation work product.
- Familiarity with structured evaluation frameworks, legal quality review, or benchmark development.
