The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Civil Quality Engineer to join a major energy infrastructure programme in Teesside. This landmark project will play a key role in supporting the UK's transition towards a lower-carbon future through the development of critical energy, pipeline, and utility infrastructure.
Working as part of a high-performing project team, you will support the Project Quality Manager in ensuring that all quality assurance and quality control activities are delivered to the highest standards across complex civil, pipeline, and utility works.
This position offers the chance to contribute to one of the UK's most significant energy and infrastructure developments while working alongside industry-leading engineering, construction, and quality professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Quality Manager in delivering project quality objectives and requirements.
- Monitor, verify, and report on quality activities across construction and installation works.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with project specifications, quality plans, procedures, and applicable industry standards.
- Act as a focal point for quality and inspection activities involving contractors and subcontractors.
- Conduct internal and external quality audits and technical reviews.
- Assist in the development and implementation of project quality plans, procedures, and inspection strategies.
- Coordinate inspection activities and ensure compliance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Carry out site-based quality surveillance and support third-party inspection activities.
- Participate in supplier and contractor surveillance activities where required.
- Review quality documentation, inspection records, and manufacturing data books.
- Support the progressive completion and sign-off of quality documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor final data dossier compilation and contribute to review and approval processes.
- Work closely with construction teams to promote quality-focused delivery.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, lessons learned reviews, and Right First Time (RFT) programmes.
- Promote a positive quality culture across all project stakeholders.

Essential
- HNC, equivalent qualification, or demonstrable experience in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quality Engineer, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Inspection role.
- Background within energy, oil & gas, petrochemical, industrial, utilities, or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and quality management principles.
- Experience reviewing inspection records, quality documentation, and manufacturing data books.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
- Strong communication, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently whilst managing multiple priorities.
Desirable
- Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) or similar professional body.
- Experience supporting Right First Time (RFT) initiatives.
- Familiarity with Self-Verification and Oversight (SV&O) processes.
- Experience conducting quality audits and working to ISO 19011 guidelines.
- Previous involvement in large-scale energy, pipeline, utility, or civil engineering projects.
