Civil, Structural & Architectural Engineer

Location: Leeds or London (Hybrid)

The Role

As the Civil, Structural & Architectural Engineer, you will act as the technical authority for all Civil, Structural and Architectural engineering activities across a diverse portfolio of projects valued between £3m and £40m. Working across approximately 12 live projects at any one time, predominantly within the healthcare and higher education sectors, you will provide technical governance from concept design through to construction, commissioning and project close-out.

Rather than undertaking detailed design yourself, you will oversee and manage external design consultants, ensuring their solutions are technically robust, coordinated, compliant and deliverable. Supporting multidisciplinary project teams, you'll provide expert advice throughout the project lifecycle, reviewing designs, resolving technical challenges and ensuring quality standards are maintained through to final snagging, handover documentation and O&M manuals.

This is a highly autonomous, niche role requiring exceptional technical judgement, strong stakeholder management and the ability to balance multiple complex projects simultaneously.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Act as the technical authority for Civil, Structural and Architectural engineering across a portfolio of projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and governance from feasibility and design through to construction and handover.
  • Manage and coordinate external Civil, Structural and Architectural design consultants, ensuring high-quality, compliant and buildable solutions.
  • Lead the technical review, challenge and approval of all Civil, Structural and Architectural designs.
  • Support multidisciplinary project teams delivering M&E-led schemes incorporating structural alterations, steelwork, new energy centres and associated civil infrastructure.
  • Ensure designs are fully coordinated across Mechanical, Electrical and Architectural disciplines.
  • Attend design reviews, technical workshops and client meetings, providing expert engineering advice.
  • Carry out site inspections, technical audits and snagging activities to verify design intent has been delivered.
  • Review commissioning documentation, record drawings and Operations & Maintenance manuals prior to project completion.
  • Support commercial and procurement teams by reviewing technical specifications, scopes of work and tender submissions.
  • Identify technical risks and develop practical engineering solutions throughout project delivery.
  • Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence and continuous improvement across the business.
  • Work alongside Design Managers, Project Engineers, Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Engineers across several UK-based project teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
