Civil Structural Design Engineer (TPW)
Manchester (Hybrid)
Contract | Outside IR35
Duration: 6-12 months
I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Civil / Structural Design Engineer to join the Civil Design team supporting major Grid Access Substation and HVDC Converter Station projects.
You will be responsible for leading design packages from concept through to completion, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, reviewing technical solutions, and ensuring successful project delivery on time and within budget.
This role will suit a technically strong engineer with experience across both civil and structural design, design coordination, and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects within sectors such as power transmission, energy, water, petrochemical, or similar.

Key Responsibilities:
- Own and coordinate design packages from commercial transfer through to practical completion.
- Review Employer’s Requirements and support early-stage design and tender activities.
- Support procurement and construction teams with technical expertise.
- Produce and review civil/structural designs using calculations, spreadsheets, and design software.
- Undertake design governance checks and review third-party consultant outputs.
- Manage design interfaces across multiple disciplines and lead design reviews.
- Author Scope of Works documents and design tender packages.
- Monitor design progress, quality, budget, and programme performance.

Qualifications
- Civil & structural design consultancy background.
- Infrastructure projects experience within sectors such as power transmission, energy, water, petrochemical, or similar industry.
- Earthworks design knowledge and Specification for Highway Works experience.
- Proficiency with design software such as Masterseries, Tedds, or STAD-Pro.
- Experience reviewing and governing designs from third-party consultants.
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations 2015.
- Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent experience) preferred.
