Setting Out

• Using a total Station primarily to set out and check the quality of engineering.
• Be able to use the total station to set up primary and secondary control with a range of fixed benchmarks and reflective targets, prisms and self-adhesive targets.
• Engineering surveying using equipment such as Leica, Topcon or Trimble for example.
• Experience with GPS will also be of benefit, but not relied upon as the main setting out tool.
• Be able to use an engineer’s level and staff to reduced level and undertake level surveys.
• Produce surveys and coordinates in X,Y, Z format on paper, digital and computer models.

Quality Control

• Have engineering experience and knowledge to interpret drawings and specifications and confirm works are installed to the inspection and test plan.
• To also have the strength of character to question contractors’ quality and to issue non-conformance reports where standards do not meet the desired specifications.

Coordination

• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and local authorities, and their own team to ensure the work is compliant to specification and design.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate project records, including drawings, reports, and site documentation.

Key Interfaces

Relationships with key stakeholders:

• Site Manager, Site Engineers, Electrical Site Supervisor, Site Operatives and Apprentices.
• Sub-Contractors.
• Local stakeholders, third parties and landowners that may be affected by our works.
• Project Team (Safety and Design).
• Project Manager.
• Clients nominated representatives’.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 4-year experience working sites operating from 132kV to 400kV and will complete the Omexom Supervisor’s course.
• Must also possess:
  • Basic reading, writing and maths skills.
  • Relevant accreditations for role.
  • Good understanding of reading and understanding drawings and documents.
  • Have/maintain a level of training, experience & Qualifications for your role, as expected / outlined by Omexom.
  • Computer literate in line with Omexom system.
  • Commercial Awareness.
  • Knowledge of substation health and safety procedures.
  • SSSTS.
  • CSCS.
