Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Civils Operatives role based in Aldridge. The Civils Operatives will support the installation and maintenance of high and low voltage infrastructure, including excavation, ducting, trenching, and reinstatement works. Day-to-day tasks include preparing sites, operating plant and tools, assisting with transformer and cable installations, and ensuring all works are completed safely and to specification. The role involves working closely with electrical teams, following method statements and risk assessments, and maintaining a clean, organized work area. Civils Operatives will also be responsible for adhering to health and safety regulations, reporting site issues, and supporting project deadlines.

  • Experience in civil engineering or utilities groundwork, including excavation, ducting, trenching, and reinstatement.
  • Ability to read and follow basic site drawings, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of on-site health and safety practices, including safe use of tools, plant, and PPE.
  • Relevant certifications such as CSCS card, CPCS/NPORS for plant operation, or equivalent (desirable).
  • Experience working around electrical infrastructure or in power distribution environments (advantageous).
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with site supervisors and technical staff.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work outdoors in varying conditions and undertake physically demanding tasks.
  • Full UK driving license or reliable transport to Aldridge site locations (preferred).
