Job Title: Civils & Piling Superintendent
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Cornwall
This opportunity is with an industry-leading global EPC contractor supporting the energy transition, with a focus on consulting services across the full asset lifecycle and next generation project delivery and execution services. The role offers significant responsibility within onshore construction, supporting multi-discipline delivery, contractor coordination, cost control, quality oversight, and construction safety compliance. This position is well suited to candidates with strong construction site leadership experience, broad discipline knowledge, and the ability to work confidently across drawings, scopes of work, commissioning dossiers, and stakeholder reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct trade and construction activities on site while supporting safe, efficient, and productive delivery.
- Plan and allocate workforce requirements to maintain manpower balance for scheduled construction activities.
- Coordinate contractor supervisory staff and maintain effective communication across site teams.
- Monitor manpower requirements, crew efficiency, productivity, costs, and quality control.
- Stand in for construction management when required and support continuity of site leadership.
- Act as the site-based representative in relation to construction activities and contractor coordination.
- Review and challenge discipline drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and construction estimates.
- Compile, review, and approve requests for proposals and construction work packs across multiple disciplines.
- Manage contractors and subcontractors across civils and associated construction disciplines.
- Support the preparation of handover and commissioning dossiers across multiple disciplines.
- Define and work within system boundaries during construction execution.
- Prepare and contribute to monthly reports for stakeholders and board-level audiences.
- Implement the Construction Safety Plan and ensure compliance with construction methods, procedures, and statutory requirements.
- Ensure work is delivered to approved-for-construction drawings, specifications, applicable standards, and good construction practices.
- Review subcontractor daily returns and progress assessments for accuracy and timeliness.
- Respond to technical queries from subcontractors and escalate to senior site personnel where needed.
- Inspect works for technical compliance with drawings, specifications, and scopes of work across multiple disciplines.
- Review and approve test reports and documentation.
- Identify deficiencies and initiate and close out non-conformance reports.
- Contribute to construction schedules and review contractor schedules and progress reports.
- Instigate field change procedures when required.
- Review contractor pricing and support contract settlement activities.
- Ensure permit to work processes are followed, including method statement and task risk analysis review.
- Chair constructability reviews and workshops across multiple disciplines.

Required Education & Certifications:
- Journey level certification, if required.
Required Experience:
- Construction site experience (Required).
- Core construction trade background with in-depth knowledge across disciplines (Required).
- Experience managing contractors and subcontractors across multiple disciplines (Required).
- Experience supporting cost management and quantity surveying duties across multiple disciplines (Required).

Required Skills:
- Ability to read, challenge, and understand discipline drawings.
- Ability to cost manage construction contractors.
- Ability to compile, review, and approve requests for proposals and construction work packs.
- Ability to compile handover and commissioning dossiers across multiple disciplines.
- Ability to define and work within system boundaries.
- Ability to prepare stakeholder and board reporting inputs.
- Understanding of BS5975 temporary works.
- Working knowledge of safety legislation and associated responsibilities, including permits to work, CDM Regulations 2015, method statements, COSHH, and PUWER.
- Advanced understanding of systems, processes, and tools related to the trade.
- Strong communication, influencing, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to review contractor schedules, progress reporting, and technical compliance documentation.
- Ability to support quality assurance, non-conformance management, and construction safety compliance.
