Civils QA Engineer – Fibre Telecoms (Field-Based)
Location: London & M25 Corridor
Contract: 3 months, extendable long-term
Start: ASAP
Driving licence + own vehicle required
A leading telecoms services provider is seeking an experienced Civils QA Engineer to support quality assurance, progress monitoring and compliance across fibre civil works delivered for a major hyperscaler. This is a field-based role covering London and the M25 corridor, focused on independent inspection, reporting and verification of construction activities.
The Role
You will be responsible for conducting daily site inspections, verifying workmanship quality, monitoring progress, and ensuring civil works meet design specifications, safety requirements and client standards. The position requires strong knowledge of fibre-related civils, excellent reporting discipline, and the ability to challenge contractors where required.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of site set-up, trenching, ducting, chambers and reinstatement to ensure compliance with approved designs and local regulations.
- Observe and record construction progress, documenting completed works, works in progress and planned activities.
- Monitor progress against programme and report delays, constraints or deviations.
- Record accurate geographic locations of works and update project/GIS systems.
- Capture photographic evidence and maintain detailed inspection records.
- Verify civil works are completed safely and to required quality standards.
- Identify defects, non-conformances and safety concerns, escalating appropriately.
- Perform Health & Safety observations and report unsafe practices immediately.
- Liaise with contractors, project teams and local authorities to resolve issues.
- Monitor reinstatement quality to ensure compliance with client and local authority standards.
- Produce accurate daily reports covering inspections, progress and site activity.

Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience in QA/QC on fibre telecom civil works (trenching, ducting, chambers, reinstatement).
- Strong understanding of civils construction methods and reinstatement standards.
- Experience working with contractors on fibre build programmes.
- Ability to produce clear, factual inspection reports with photographic evidence.
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety and compliance requirements.
- Comfortable working independently across multiple daily site visits.
- Full UK driving licence and own vehicle (mandatory).
- Good communication skills and ability to challenge contractors professionally.
