A2 Maritime Seeks Experienced Engineers
A2 Maritime is looking for experienced Civil/Structural/Bridge Engineers to join our growing maritime consultancy team for the role of a Senior Engineer (5 + years’ experience) and a Principal Engineer/Associate (15+ years’ experience).
This is an exciting opportunity for a Chartered (or near Chartered) engineer with between 5 and circa 20 years’ experience to take a key role in delivering technically challenging infrastructure engineering projects, working closely with clients and contributing to the continued growth of our business.
The successful candidates will be strategically involved across the full project lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design through to construction support. Working alongside clients, project managers, design engineers and colleagues across the wider A2 Group, you will help deliver practical, innovative and bespoke engineering solutions across the maritime and infrastructure sectors. For the Principal Engineer/Associate role, you would be more significantly involved in the business development and delivering the company’s growth strategy.
As part of a growing, innovative consultancy, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, contribute to technical excellence, support the development of others and help shape the future direction of A2 Maritime.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the delivery of civil and structural engineering projects from concept through to construction.
- Provide technical expertise across all stages of design development.
- Prepare, review and coordinate engineering designs, calculations, reports and specifications.
- Manage engineering interfaces and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Support technical proposals, fee estimates and tender submissions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, legislation, quality systems and project requirements.
- Coordinate specialist consultant and subcontractor inputs where required.
- Support and mentor graduate and junior engineers, including those working towards Chartership.
- Contribute to the continued development of technical standards, processes and best practice within A2 Maritime.
- Design team leadership and business development (Principal Engineer/ Associate role).

Sector Experience
While maritime engineering experience would be highly desirable, we recognise that excellent engineering skills are transferable. We welcome applications from engineers with backgrounds in heavy civil engineering, infrastructure or bridge engineering who are interested in applying their experience to the maritime sector and broadening their own experience at the same time.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree (or preferably Master’s degree) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience in civil or structural engineering consultancy.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or be working towards Chartership.
- Experience delivering engineering design projects within heavy civils, infrastructure, bridges or related sectors (Maritime engineering experience would be an advantage but is not essential).
- Strong technical capability and a practical approach to problem solving.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to share knowledge and support the development of others.
