New Vacancy - Claims Adjuster - Property Binders/D&F

Lloyd's Syndicate
City of London

I am currently partnered with a leading Syndicate who are seeking a Claims Adjuster to join their team on a 12M FTC basis.

You will be responsible for handling claims from cradle to grave, within Property Binders and D&F lines predominately on a global basis including the US. You will also be responsible for mentoring juniors within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adjust claims within the agreed Claims Authority in accordance with the company's Claims Philosophy and Claims Protocols, as well as Lloyd's Claims Principles and sub-principles.
  • Take responsibility for the handling of Property Binder claims and provide mentoring and support to junior Property Claims Underwriters where appropriate.
  • Work closely with and support the Underwriting teams whose claims you handle, including providing regular updates and renewal information where required.
  • Work closely with brokers and clients to resolve claims effectively and efficiently.
  • Liaise with following and co-lead markets, including arranging and hosting market meetings where necessary and attending meetings as required.
  • Take responsibility for instructing and managing lawyers and experts where appropriate to assist with coverage determination, quantum assessment, and the resolution of disputes.
  • Act as relationship manager and key claims contact for all Delegated Claims Administrators (DCAs) within the Property Binders portfolio, working closely with the Delegated Authority team and Underwriters.
  • Oversee the outsourced review and processing of monthly financial bordereaux, including appropriate triage to Claims Managers and Claims Underwriters where agreed criteria are met. Ensure bordereaux remain up to date and escalate any issues to the Head of Claims Operations & Analytics, Claims Managers, Binder Authority Team, and Underwriters.
  • Ensure the internal CAT plan is implemented and adhered to where required.
  • Review loss fund adequacy and support the Claims Operations function with the recovery of loss funds relating to prior years.
  • Ensure the company's Reserving Philosophy is applied consistently and that all claims reserving is undertaken in a timely, accurate, and consistent manner.
  • Escalate large or complex claims through the Claims Department as required and complete Executive Claims Summaries where appropriate.
  • Report appropriate claims to the Outwards Reinsurance Department on a timely basis and assist with reinsurer recoveries where necessary.
  • Support the Claims Operations function with the company's delegation of claims authority to Coverholders and Delegated Claims Administrators (DCAs). This may include maintaining the control framework for delegated claims authority, agreeing and updating DCA Service Level Agreements, ensuring appropriate MI is submitted regularly, and ensuring work undertaken on the company's behalf is appropriately peer reviewed, audited, and compliant with all applicable regulations.
  • Undertake any other ad hoc duties or tasks as required by management.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
