PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
My client is a well-established independent Lloyd’s broker with a singular focus on improving the way businesses manage risk. On a mission to reinvigorate broking, they have ambitious growth plans and are looking to add a Claims Associate to their London team.
The successful candidate will provide technical claims support across multinational and multi-layered programmes, with a focus on US casualty binders, financial lines, and property. You will be responsible for ensuring claims are valid, processed, and paid within agreed timescales, acting as a key claims advocate for clients throughout the lifecycle of each matter.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and coordinate a portfolio of US casualty binder claims, including Professional Liability, General Liability, E&O, EPL, Crisis Management, and other specialty liability classes, ensuring effective communication between clients, TPAs, coverholders, and insurers.
- Review and assess claims information, coverage positions, and carrier responses, providing clients with clear, commercially focused advice.
- Monitor claim progress from notification to resolution, ensuring all parties meet contractual, regulatory, and service-level requirements.
- Act as a key claims advocate for clients, negotiating with insurers, TPAs, adjusters, and legal representatives to support favourable and timely outcomes.
- Demonstrate strong working knowledge of CLASS and ECF systems, ensuring efficient submission, tracking, and agreement of claims within the Lloyd’s and company markets.
- Provide claims support across financial lines (D&O, E&O, Financial Institutions, Professional Indemnity) and property, including CAT and technical industrial risks, for both direct and reinsurance placements.
- Use broking systems to produce documents and accounting entries, ensuring their accuracy.
- Liaise with colleagues across London and overseas offices to deliver a consistent and collaborative claims service.
- Participate in client reviews, renewal preparation, and underwriter and broker meetings.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
