Introduction

As a Claims Broker in our Special Risks team, your main responsibility will be handling claims matters from First Notice of Loss to Settlement, supporting your Line Manager, the brokers and working directly with Underwriters and Coverholders to support and fulfil their Claims needs.

Responsibilities

Claims Handling:

  • Individual Claims and post received are reviewed and entered onto Global XB and CLASS as soon as possible after receipt but no later than the SLA’s set out to ensure quick turnaround time of claims for both the client and Underwriters.
  • Ensuring Underwriters’ responses are conveyed to the correct party in a timely manner along with responding to any queries raised.
  • Maintaining a claims diary and is responsible for keeping this up to date.
  • Providing Loss runs when requested.
  • Monitoring the processing of our Claims bdx by Cheltenham based team to ensure our deadlines are met.
  • Monitoring our Loss funds ensuring our DCA’s have sufficient funds on existing and new contracts whilst returning Loss funds to Underwriters when available.
  • Develop and maintain effective relations with our Cheltenham based team and providing them with guidance as required.
  • Building working relationships with our Underwriters, DCAs, Attorneys, Experts.
  • Working with our Account Handlers and Brokers on their claim’s requirements.

Claims Data and Analytics:

  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Undertake any other responsibilities that may become necessary to fulfil this role.

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications

Claims Broking Experience

  • Working knowledge of the Lloyd’s and company markets
  • Aware of current Lloyd’s initiatives
  • Working knowledge of the role of a DCA
  • Experience in Binding Authorities
  • Working knowledge of ECF
  • Knowledge of the Xchanging process for Signing Claims

Microsoft Office Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Good spoken and written communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Confident and efficient in dealing with large datasets
  • Team working ability
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines

Additional Skills

  • Knowledge of USA property insurance
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements in the territories concerned
  • Working towards a Certificate in Insurance or higher
