At Howden, Commercial & Schemes

Commercial insurance isn't just what we do, it's who we are. We support clients through the complex world of commercial risk, providing expert advice and tailored solutions that help businesses navigate uncertainty and achieve their ambitions.

We're looking for a Claims Executive

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial claims professional who enjoys building client relationships, managing complex claims and working collaboratively with broking colleagues to deliver outstanding service. Working with clients across a broad range of commercial sectors, from SMEs through to larger commercial organisations, you'll act as a trusted adviser throughout the claims journey, supporting clients when they need us most and helping secure the best possible outcomes.

Please note this is a full-time, permanent opportunity. You will ideally be based in our Manchester office two - three days per week.

Overview

  • Manage commercial insurance claims from notification through to settlement, including larger, more complex or contentious losses.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to clients, providing guidance and support throughout the claims process while delivering a high-quality claims experience.
  • Work closely with brokers, insurers, loss adjusters, legal representatives and other stakeholders to achieve timely and effective claim resolution.
  • Visit clients following significant losses to investigate circumstances, gather information and help build robust claims submissions.
  • Negotiate with insurers to secure the best possible settlement in line with policy coverage.
  • Partner closely with a Claims Handler to deliver a seamless and efficient service to clients.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and colleagues, helping to support retention and strengthen our client proposition.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
