As the sixth-largest insurance company in the world, we provide a wide range of services, including health, car, home, and business insurance. We support millions of customers worldwide, helping them navigate life's uncertainties with confidence.

AXA Retail helps people get back to the good stuff with quick, fuss-free home and car insurance and brilliant customer service.

Job overview:

We have exciting, permanent opportunities for Claims Handlers in Birmingham. As part of a busy team, you’ll manage claims, review reports for payment, and make decisions. This role doesn’t involve taking inbound customer telephone calls, but you will make some outbound telephone calls. You don’t need previous experience in insurance. We’ll train you on our systems and processes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of claims, review reports, and make informed decisions.
  • Update systems accurately with the latest information.
  • Communicate decisions to relevant parties, ensuring transparency and understanding.
  • Prioritise tasks to effectively manage your caseload.
  • Identify potential fraud and refer suspicious claims for investigation.
  • Ensure fair treatment of customers.

Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team, and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients, or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
