Title: Motor Reinsurance Claims Handler
Salary: Up to £27,000 per annum
Availability: Immediate availability/2 weeks max notice
Location: Remote (UK based only)
Term: Permanent – Full Time (35 hours pw)
We are seeking an experienced, confident Motor Reinsurance Claims Handler to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a specialist team, where you will be ‘loaned’ out to both internal and external clients to offer your claims expertise.
This opportunity allows successful candidates to enhance their skillset, network with a diverse range of clients, develop knowledge of a variety of systems, and still be supported by your team. Each assignment typically lasts between 3–12 months, meaning that no two days will ever be the same!
Successful candidates will be employed on a secondment model, meaning you will be assigned to various teams based on business needs. While the assignments are temporary in nature, this is a permanent role, and after one secondment concludes, you will transition to another project within the organisation.
This role is fully remote; however, when working with our clients, you may be required to travel to their offices for training (including overnight stays, paid for by the company). You may also be required to attend our offices for meetings and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage motor reinsurance claims through the London Market using ECF, CMS and ODM systems, ensuring accurate claim transaction processing and policy validation.
- Handle claims with values up to £5 million within delegated authority limits
- Review policy coverage and verified reinsurance contract details to ensure valid claim presentation and recovery.
- Complete write-back activities and maintained comprehensive claims documentation, correspondence and audit records within the Claims Management System (CMS).
- Establish and maintain accurate case reserves, regularly reviewing and adjusting estimates in line with claim developments and exposure changes.
- Process cash calls and claim payments in accordance with London Market practices, contractual obligations and internal procedures.
- Perform manual (non-Bureau) claim set-up and administration, including claims registration, policy validation and ongoing file maintenance.
- Respond to broker and market queries via the Electronic Claims File (ECF) platform, consistently meeting the London Market service standard of responding within 48 hours.
- Liaise with brokers, reinsurers, solicitors, and other stakeholders to obtain outstanding documentation, progress claim investigations and facilitate timely settlements.
- Monitor and manage historic and outstanding claims, ensuring timely follow-up of recovery opportunities and claim developments.
- Maintain the daily LIRMA tracker, providing accurate information on outstanding workloads and contributing to management information (MI) reporting.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, delegated authorities, regulatory requirements, and London Market standards throughout the claims lifecycle.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
