We have an exciting opportunity for a Claims Handler to join us in our Belfast office. Working within Claims, you’ll help customers and clients of AXA with their claims. We see ourselves as one big team, therefore you’ll take pride in working as an effective team player.
Joining us as a Claims Handler, you’ll be an essential member of the team helping our customers over the phone, by handling their queries. You’ll have strong communication skills, with the ability to build great relationships based on Integrity and trust. We always put the Customer First in everything we do, so we want someone who strives to go the extra mile for them.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work majority of your week away from home. Away from home means either attendance at one of our head office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
What you’ll be doing:
- Completes all aspects of claims management on damage or property claim files (notification, triage, investigation, fulfilment, negotiation, liability and settlement, payment, subrogation and salvage) within predefined authority limits and to predefined processes, procedures and escalation points.
- Contain claim costs by implementing agreed processes and deploying all resources effectively (system and technical resources, other teams, liaising with Third Party Service providers, customers, solicitors).
- Deliver consistency in estimating, minimise leakage and fraud.
- Deliver excellent customer service.
- Deal effectively with referrals, escalations and complaints where appropriate including upward referral to relevant team leader.
- Deliver agreed personal, team and business/company objectives, actively manage your own performance.
- Be flexible within the role to undertake other duties as assigned by your Team Manager.
- Identify and refer potential cases of fraud to Special Investigations Unit (SIU) using red flag indicators and handler intuition in order to avoid commercial loss through potentially fraudulent claims.

About You
What we’re looking for:
- U/W principles & insurance products – Working knowledge
- Technical Claims, Procedures and processes - Working Knowledge
- Applicable legal, liability and quantum – Working Knowledge
- Overall compliance to Health & Safety and IT Security
- Data Protection Act and AXA Global Security guidelines
- Claim regulations, compliance and legislation – working knowledge
- Negotiation, influencing, judgement and decision-making
- Problem solving and issue resolution
- PC and system skill
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorized to work in Ireland and/or the United Kingdom.
