Claims Handler (London Market Losses)
Prestigious Global Insurer
RJ-3178
Leeds
Salary negotiable, plus lucrative bonus
It should be no surprise that when this dynamic insurer decided to build a London Market Claims Team in the UK regions, it plumped for Leeds – it has been established locally for over 20 years, already boasts a significant claims team that comprises many of the region’s most gifted insurance professionals, and has recently invested significantly in the acquisition of penthouse offices in perhaps Leeds’ most prestigious office addresses.
It is arguably the most exciting insurance company in the market right now, using ingenuity combined with technical expertise and cutting-edge technology to underwrite risks that other insurers shy away from. This ‘can do’ attitude, coupled with an unwavering focus on client service, is serving it well; the business is currently enjoying 20% year on year growth, and is well on track to exceed its plans to double in size within 5 years.
The new London Market Claims Team has 3 distinct divisions; Professional Risks, Energy and Marine. Claims Adjusters will be working on files with reserves up to US$250,000, and sometimes higher on a referral basis, with the vast majority of losses coming through the broker channel. You will be responsible for managing your caseload on a cradle to grave basis; including establishing quantum, investigating the circumstances around a loss, and appointing Adjusters. You will keep accurate records of all work undertaken, regularly updating inhouse and London Market claims systems and, when required, compiling accurate management information for a range of stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
