Claims Handler (12-Month FTC)

Glasgow | £37.4k - £39.2k per annum (dependent on skills and qualifications)

Full-time

At SGN, we rely on effective claims management to ensure claims are investigated, managed and resolved fairly, efficiently and in line with company policies and regulatory requirements. As a Claims Handler, you'll be responsible for managing public liability and/or recovery claims, providing a high-quality service.

  • Receive, record, and acknowledge new claims, reviewing for completeness and coverage.
  • Investigate, negotiate, settle, and maintain accurate records of claims, managing own caseload and escalating as needed.
  • Work with legal support to resolve disputes.
  • Authorise and approve claims in line with policies and legal frameworks (NSRWA 1991, Gas Act 1986).
  • Follow best practices, adhere to policies and legal frameworks, and stay updated with relevant Case Law.
  • Respond to inquiries about the claims/recovery process, providing clear and timely information.
  • Provide excellent customer service, offering regular updates and promptly resolving issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and customers.
  • Handle MoJ Portal Claims.
  • Identify and pursue recovery opportunities, maximising recovery items and maintaining accurate records.
  • Prepare reports on claim status and recovery performance, tracking KPIs.
  • Identify and raise risks, issues, or exceptions related to claims/recovery analysis.
  • Support the development of the claims management team and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and drive efficiencies.

What you will need

  • Understanding of insurance principles, products and claims processes.
  • Experience handling claims, including exposure to both defendant and claimant litigation.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to influence, challenge and negotiate, using sound judgement to achieve positive outcomes
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
