Claims Team Lead – Insurance
Bristol | Hybrid – 2–3 days in the office
£35,000 – £38,000
12-month FTC to Permanent | 35 hours per week
Ready to take the next step in your claims career and start leading others, without moving away from hands-on claims work?
We’re partnering with a fast-growing specialist insurance business in Bristol that is continuing to expand its claims operation.
They’re now looking for a Claims Team Lead to join the team – someone who can combine strong claims handling experience with the ability to support, coach, and motivate others. This isn’t a role where you’ll simply manage from a distance.
You’ll remain involved in claims yourself while becoming a senior point of contact for the wider team, helping improve performance, develop Claims Handlers, and ensure customers continue to receive fair, fast, and transparent outcomes.
What you’ll be doing:
Leading & supporting the team
- Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and support to Claims Handlers
- Act as a senior point of contact for escalated claims
- Help onboard and train new team members
- Monitor workloads and support the fair allocation of claims
- Track individual and team performance against KPIs
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to maintain performance and productivity
- Help create an engaged, motivated, and high-performing team

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Experience within rent protection, legal expenses, or another specialist insurance product would be useful, but it’s not essential.
Why consider it?
There’s a really interesting growth story behind this opportunity.
The initial requirement has come about through maternity cover, so they’re keen to get someone started ASAP to allow for a proper onboarding and handover.
However, with the claims team already growing, they’re also open to hiring someone permanently and retaining them beyond the maternity period.
So, if you’re an experienced Claims Handler who feels ready for that next step into leadership – or you're already leading a claims team and want to join a growing, modern insurance business where you can genuinely make an impact – this could be a great move.
