Claims Underwriter, Casualty Lines
Based in our London office, reporting to the Head of Casualty Claims, you will provide claims adjusting and other claims related support functions predominantly to the Cyber Medical Malpractice teams and may also assist with Financial Lines, Professional Indemnity and any other lines dealt with by the Casualty claims claim as agreed and required.
Hamilton Global Specialty is our multi-platform, specialty insurer operating primarily through Lloyd’s Syndicate and a Dublin operating company with a managing general agency in the US.
What you will do
- Assist with the handling of claims within the Casualty Claims division through
- Analysis of coverage and quantum for individual claims within your agreed authority and through referral to the Head of Casualty claims where quantum is likely to exceed your individual authority
- Review of bordereau presentations for agreement and processing
- Liaise with internal stakeholders such as other members of the Claims team, Underwriters, Reinsurers, Actuaries and Management
- Develop relationships with external stakeholders such as brokers, loss adjusters, lawyers & TPAs.
- Ensure timely reserving & reporting
- Ensure compliance with internal guidelines, processes and procedures
- Attend external client and broker meetings as required
- Attend networking events as appropriate
- Assist with operational tasks as required

What you require for the role
- Proven experience working within or knowledge of the London insurance market in underwriting/Claims/Broking
- An understanding of insurance policies, preferably with cyber claims handling and third party liability claims handling experience
- An understanding of the Lloyd’s Claims schemes
- Familiarity with ECF preferred but not essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite, particularly Excel
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to prioritise and manage deadlines

- Strong work ethic
